No matter what sort of event you are planning, one of the most important things to take into consideration is what sort of food to serve at the event. From a simple off-site business meeting with boxed lunches, to a black-tie evening event that offers a wide selection in the form of a buffet, to a glamorous wedding reception with a sit-down dinner, the selection of the caterer is incredibly important.
If you’re like me, you always prefer to select a service of any kind with the recommendation of a trusted friend or family member. These are the people I turn to with all of my other questions in life, so why wouldn’t I go to
them when I am in need of the name of a good caterer? If they themselves have not had to hire a caterer and, therefore, don’t have a name for me, it’s entirely possible they have their own friends and other family members they can ask. Even if they aren’t able to give you a name of a caterer they would recommend, they might be able to tell you who not to hire, which is almost just as important. As a business in need of a caterer, ask around to some of your associates at other companies, as they have probably hosted their own events that needed a caterer and could offer some suggestions. Getting a name of a caterer from a person you know you can trust means you’re almost guaranteed to have a caterer who will help you have an incredibly successful event.
For a wedding caterer, one of your best resources is the various wedding magazines that are published on a monthly basis. Many big cities, such as Chicago, have their own bridal magazine that gives wedding information specific to that city, such as the best florists in the area, where to have your reception, and even the most recommended caterers. Some of the national bridal magazines will occasionally list similar information and recommendations from all around the country, including the Chicago area.
If all else fails, there is always the option to just go online and search the web for a Chicago caterer. Just go to your normal internet searching webpage and type in exactly what you are looking for. Including the city, or even the exact neighborhood, will narrow down your options immensely, giving you a list of the catering companies that fit your specific needs. Even a search as simple as “catering services Chicago” will provide a list of all the Chicago area caterers. But if your event is a little more specialized, such as a wedding or a business function, you can do a more detailed search, such as “Wedding catering in Chicago, IL” or “business caterers downtown Chicago” and end up with a similar list of caterers who match your catering requirements.
