Selling Your Art Online

Whether you are an established artist or a recent Art School graduate or even someone who has recently taken up some form of art or craft as a hobby, one of the things you are probably most interested in finding out more information on is what to do with your artwork once it is finished. You know there are other artists out there who are able to make a living off of their art, or at the very least have figured out how to add a supplemental income to the regular earnings; you’re just not sure how they do it.

The first step in the process of making money off of your craft is not finding out how to sell art, but finding out where your audience is located. This, of course, will depend entirely on your art. Do you paint the kind of paintings that will do best in a high-end city gallery or will you be most successful at small boutiques or even local arts and craft shows? To heighten your opportunities to have a successful, and, most importantly profitable, career as an artist, it’s important to first find out where your potential customers are purchasing their art, because that is where you and your art need to be.

In this digital age, more and more arts and crafts consumers are turning to the internet to buy art online. With a plethora of artists and art websites available, potential purchasers have found that their chance of finding a piece of art that best suits their needs will increase if they search online. Short of putting up a sign in your front lawn that says local artist paintings for sale selling online is the best way to get your customers to come to you. Selling artwork online doesn’t have to be your only means of promoting your name and brand, either. But by setting up a situation where your customers come to you, instead of the other way around, you will find that you will not only make money from customers who appreciate your work, you’ll also discover you’ll have more time to devote to your art, because you won’t be out and about trying to convince galleries to feature you.

The beauty of the online art world is that there is room for everyone and every niche. Pottery makers have discovered a market for their ceramic bowls and decorative vases and there are even artists who have found they can add to their income by selling original pencil drawings online. Just as the variety of art online is immeasurable, so are the tastes of the potential customers purchasing art online. The increase in interest for online art has also lead to an increase in the amount of websites and online venues available to artists, thereby increasing the amount of future buyers you can reach.

Where to Buy Art

Any home, no matter the size or decorative style, can be personalized with artwork. I don’t just mean paintings hanging on the walls, either. While paintings or framed posters and photographs are an easy place to start, there are plenty of other options available, too. If you’re interested in buying art, but aren’t sure where to go look, then this list is for you.

I’m lucky enough to live in a good-sized city that values the work of local artists. As such, I’m surrounded by galleries of all sizes, from large high-end facilities that feature traditional portraits and paintings, to small, modern spaces that prefer to showcase contemporary and funky artwork. Even if you don’t personally live in a city that has any art galleries, there’s a good chance that the largest city near your home does. Because of the differences in the atmosphere and art of each individual gallery, it can be a daunting experience trying to find the right one. Luckily, many cities host Art Walks or Art Hops, where the galleries are all open in the evening and welcome visitors to come and visit as many or as few as they want. It’s a great way to spend the evening with friends while also discovering which galleries you’ll want to visit more often.

For smaller art pieces, like small figurines or pottery, consider looking at boutiques or similar small independent stores. While such businesses are primarily known for selling clothes, they can also be a great place to buy unique art work. Art of all kinds will frequently be featured at boutiques, as they are a great way for a business to decorate their store while also helping out a local artist. Coffee shops are another example of a business that often highlights the work of local artists, whether they are painters or photographers. The art work on display at these locations is often for sale, with information on how to contact the artist if you are interested in a specific piece.

If painting isn’t your thing and you’d prefer something a little more tangible, like sculptural pieces or pottery, or you want to know where to buy glass art, consider checking out local arts and crafts fairs. At these fairs, artisans set up booths featuring their work, and the variety of items is incredible. Depending on which fair you choose, you could find sculptures made out of horseshoes or small detailed clay figurines. These fairs are also the perfect place to find seasonal decorative items, such as beautiful glass-blown Christmas ornaments and signs to put in your front yard at Halloween.

Don’t forget that this list isn’t just for art buyers, as the information can be very useful to artists, too. If you are an artist who wants to start making some money with you artwork but aren’t sure where to go to find a list of places to sell art, consider this your helpful guide!

Why You Should Buy Art Online

If you’re anything like me, you find blank walls pretty boring and love to liven up a living space with some art. Paintings are my favorite, and while it’s easy enough to go to the store and purchase a print or poster of a famous or well-known piece of artwork, I much prefer to buy original paintings. Just about anyone can have a copy of a Monet or Van Gogh hanging in their living room, but with original paintings you, as a buyer, know that you have something unique. Something original. You can hang that painting in your bedroom or office or wherever and know that you have the only one. Having a collection comprised of entirely original art makes each painting all the more special.

Of course, unless you live in a good-sized city that has an assortment of local galleries or hosts art fairs, it’s not easy to find original works of art. Then again, even living in such a city isn’t any kind of guarantee that you will find a piece of art that fits your needs or aesthetic. For all you know, the perfect artist for you lives on the other side of the country. Maybe even on the other side of the world! Luckily, artists of all mediums, all over the globe, have figured out that one of the best ways to increase their market and brand is to sell art online.

There are several reasons why you should buy art online. First and foremost, the online environment makes it super easy to locate exactly what you are looking for. With just a couple simple keywords, you’ll find yourself looking through a list of items that match your exact criteria, including pictures of the actual piece, along with a description. That way you can be sure you’re buying exactly what you want.

Another reason to go online for art is it allows you to really connect and communicate with the artist. In a gallery setting you don’t always have that option. Sometimes the artist is around if you have questions about a particular piece, but not always. Online, the artist is just an email away and usually very willing to talk to potential clients. With a website, it’s also easy to keep track of when they update their inventory, so if you find an artist you really like, you’ll know pretty quickly when they have new art available. Plus, many of the artists who sell their art online are up-and-coming, not quite established. Or it’s just something they do for fun, as a hobby. They also set their own price, which means that you’ll find a large range, so a piece of original art can fit anyone’s budget.

So, remember: whether you are a longtime art lover or someone wanting to start, one of the best ways to increase your collection is to utilize the web.

How to Find a Bankruptcy Lawyer

Filing for bankruptcy is an incredibly important and critical step in your life, and no matter what circumstances brought you to this difficult decision, the process can be made easier with the help of the right Wisconsin bankruptcy attorney or lawyer. Below is a list of suggestions of some ways to find the right bankruptcy lawyer for you.

When selecting any kind of service, including legal, your best option is always to go with the name of a Milwaukee or Menomonee Falls bankruptcy lawyer whose name has been recommended to you. Ask around, to trusted friends and family members, and see if they have dealt with a bankruptcy lawyer or attorney personally, or maybe they are friends with one who would be willing to take on your case. Another referral option is to call a Certified Credit Counsel Agency or a United States Trustee’s office. These are organizations that can assist in giving you with a list of names of local bankruptcy attorneys and lawyers who will best fit your case and circumstances.

If none of the above options are available or prove successful, you can always go through the phone book or do an internet search. The best part about going online to find an attorney is that you can create a keyword search that will meet all of your needs. Just type in where you live and what kind of bankruptcy you need to file for, such as “chapter 13 bankruptcy lawyers Milwaukee” or “chapter 7 bankruptcy lawyer Ozaukee county” and the search engine web page will do the rest, providing you with a list of all the bankruptcy lawyers in your area that can assist you with filing for bankruptcy.

Because of the importance of this decision, never go with the very first lawyer whose name you come across. Your inclination might be to just pick one so you can get the bankruptcy process over with, but this could actually be detrimental to your case, so take your time in selecting a lawyer and don’t be afraid to visit and interview a few to pick the best one for you and your case. When meeting a bankruptcy attorney for the first time, you are allowed to ask questions. In fact, you’re actually encouraged to. With a little bit of research, you can come up with a list of questions that you feel are important to ask, such as if their firm specializes in bankruptcy and how much their services cost. Your potential lawyer or attorney should be willing and open to answering every single one of them, and if you are not satisfied with their answers, you are well within your rights to leave and try to find another lawyer. With such an important decision before you, you want to take your time and make sure you choose correctly.

How to Find the Perfect Caterer

No matter what sort of event you are planning, one of the most important things to take into consideration is what sort of food to serve at the event. From a simple off-site business meeting with boxed lunches, to a black-tie evening event that offers a wide selection in the form of a buffet, to a glamorous wedding reception with a sit-down dinner, the selection of the caterer is incredibly important.

If you’re like me, you always prefer to select a service of any kind with the recommendation of a trusted friend or family member. These are the people I turn to with all of my other questions in life, so why wouldn’t I go to them when I am in need of the name of a good caterer? If they themselves have not had to hire a caterer and, therefore, don’t have a name for me, it’s entirely possible they have their own friends and other family members they can ask. Even if they aren’t able to give you a name of a caterer they would recommend, they might be able to tell you who not to hire, which is almost just as important. As a business in need of a caterer, ask around to some of your associates at other companies, as they have probably hosted their own events that needed a caterer and could offer some suggestions. Getting a name of a caterer from a person you know you can trust means you’re almost guaranteed to have a caterer who will help you have an incredibly successful event.

For a wedding caterer, one of your best resources is the various wedding magazines that are published on a monthly basis. Many big cities, such as Chicago, have their own bridal magazine that gives wedding information specific to that city, such as the best florists in the area, where to have your reception, and even the most recommended caterers. Some of the national bridal magazines will occasionally list similar information and recommendations from all around the country, including the Chicago area.

If all else fails, there is always the option to just go online and search the web for a Chicago caterer. Just go to your normal internet searching webpage and type in exactly what you are looking for. Including the city, or even the exact neighborhood, will narrow down your options immensely, giving you a list of the catering companies that fit your specific needs. Even a search as simple as “catering services Chicago” will provide a list of all the Chicago area caterers. But if your event is a little more specialized, such as a wedding or a business function, you can do a more detailed search, such as “Wedding catering in Chicago, IL” or “business caterers downtown Chicago” and end up with a similar list of caterers who match your catering requirements.

Closet Organization

As much as I would like to pretend and believe that I’m organized, I’m really not. Especially when it comes to the closet in my bedroom. If I know there is the smallest chance that a guest or visitor will be in my bedroom, I make sure to have that closet door closed so they can’t see the craziness hanging from the, well, hangers. Between having all of my hangers empty because all the clothes are on the floor and my shoes in a big pile, half the time even I don’t want to see the mess! As it happens, there is an entire business and industry built around helping people exactly like me.

No matter how big or small your closet is, from a tiny alcove under the stairs to a huge walk-in nearly the size of your room, there is organization help. If floor space is an issue and you don’t have any room for a dresser, look into investing in some of the fabric or canvas hanging organizers. They can be attached to the closet bar and are perfect for sweaters and blouses that can be damaged by hangers. If you have the luxury of making more permanent changes to the interior of your closet, consider purchasing metal or plastic shelves that can be screwed directly into the wall. The benefit to these is that they can be moved to fit your specifications. The amount of shelves, the space between them, all of it is up to you, giving you a true Madison custom closet.

Depending the size and age of your home or apartment, you might not even have a closet to work with. While you can buy portable or stand-alone racks that fit in the corner of a room, they are somewhat unsightly and might not be big enough to hold all of your clothes. One option is to buy a bureau or wardrobe. If you can’t find one that fits your needs or matches your bedroom set, consider having one made for you. You could also have a closet built, if there is space available. By working closely with Wisconsin custom closet makers, you will get the closet of your dreams. Need ample drawers for all of your winter sweaters? No problem. Want an entire bureau full of cubby holes just for your shoes? They can do that, too.

If you know you need help with organizing your closet but have no idea where to start or aren’t sure you’ll be able to do all that needs done, consider hiring one of the many closet organizers in Oregon Wisconsin. As terrible as I am at organization, these are people who I can pay to organize my closet for me. They know all the little tips and tricks that will not only get my closet organized, but will help me keep it that way.
